More than a room with a treadmill and resistance bands, we named our fitness center Westminster Athletic Club because it’s designed to bring out the athlete in everyone—at any age. As the saying goes, “If you have a body, you are an athlete.” Our athletic club will help you make the most of it—with resources you can count on—from certified fitness experts to effective equipment.

Fitness Manager On-Site

At your service five days a week on-site, our fitness manager is certified by the National Institute for Fitness and Sport (NIFS). Degreed and certified, NIFS makes sure its managers are trained to help individuals exercise safely and smartly at all ages and stages of life. You’ll receive a personalized plan from our fitness manager—your own prescription for nutrition, functional movement and exercise to help you feel better, build confidence and experience life! Our fitness manager is also available for some on-on- one sessions.

From our executive director and competent caregivers to the servers in The Crossroads dining room, residents, friends and families will find they are recognized, welcomed and appreciated each day.

Colleen Matthews, Executive Director

Matthews has more than 32 years of experience in senior living. She is a graduate of Indiana State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Sociology, along with a master’s degree in Gerontology. At an early age, Mathews demonstrated an interest in working with seniors, volunteering in a nursing home at the age of 13, and continued intermittently through her high school years.  “Westminster Village is an exceptional community with a strong history and strong sense of camaraderie and dedication among the team members. I look forward to building upon our foundation of hospitality and customer service while continuing to anticipate and provide for the needs of those we serve.” In her spare time, Colleen enjoys walking her dog, staying physically active with a bootcamp style, kickboxing workout, and spending time with family.

Ken Horstman, Dining Services Director

Ken has an extensive array of experience in the restaurant and dining services field spanning over 36 years, with all of those in the Terre Haute area. When he’s not coordinating the outstanding dining program at Westminster Village, you’ll find him in the great outdoors, golfing, fishing, camping, hunting, hiking and birdwatching. “I love the feeling of family here at Westminster Village,” he relates. “We are all here to help each other.”

Lauren Kelsheimer, Director of  Community Life

Lauren’s background includes over 10 years of professional experience in the fitness, wellness and recreation fields. She is a familiar face to many, having worked at Westminster Village for over five years as a contract employee through NIFS Fitness Center Management. She loves creating moments of magic for residents, and when she hears that someone enjoys a program, event or trip, it keeps her motivated to continue to do more and more for them. In her own words, it’s about “creating experiences that people won’t forget.” Lauren prides herself on the ability to connect with people and understand their needs and wants, and feels it’s a big reason she’s been able to achieve her goals as Community Life Director.

Jennifer Foley, Director of Community Outreach

I have worked in LTC for 26 years, I started out as a CNA, I have been a business office Manager, Human Resources then about 16 years ago found my true passion in the Marketing and Admissions world! I help our residents by giving them information on our community so that they have a smooth transition from Home or the hospital to our Health Center. I love animals I have 2 dogs and 2 cats as well as 2 sons and a daughter and a grandson.

Julie Jones, Human Resources Director

Julie graduated from St. Mary of the Woods College with a Bachelor of Science Human Resource Management. She has worked in Human Resources for a little over 4 years. Her goal is to make sure that all team members feel appreciated for their hard work, and if they need help with anything that she is always there to help them. Julie loves to smile and bring joy to others. She loves helping people and has enjoyed working in senior living the last few years. When Julie is not working, she loves spending time with her daughter, boyfriend, family and friends. She also enjoys baking, exercising, and collecting Betty Boop items. Julie’s motto is “It’s going to be a good day.”

Johanna Collins, Director of Nursing

Johanna has had experience in many different positions throughout the healthcare spectrum. I have worked in skilled nursing, Assisted Living, public health, a Cardiac Device Clinic, and in schools. My specialty was in the emergency room. I have experience as a charge nurse and lead nurse. I graduated from Ivy Tech Community College. As a Director of Nursing my focus is on the clinical needs of the Residents. I make sure that Residents are able to live the best quality of life possible. Prior to accepting this position, I traveled as a nurse for 3 years. While nursing is my passion, I love traveling, learning new things, am very active in my church, and love spending time with family and friends.

Sara Young, Move-In Coordinator

Originally from Houston, Texas, Sara relocated to Indiana in 2008. She truly enjoys the opportunity to use her creativity as part of her role in helping residents transition to the community. “I enjoy camping and exploring the many parts and recreation areas within the Wabash Valley with my husband and friends,” she says. She can also be found with her Yorkie, Winston, visiting the community when not on duty.

Amanda Dailey, Residency Counselor

Amanda’s background includes 15 years of work in the senior living industry. She has been a familiar face around Westminster Village, having worked here for the past three years. Amanda loves being able to share her passion of senior living with the outside community. She prides herself on her continued growth in this industry and ability to rise to any challenge that is presented to her with a positive outlook. Amanda is a native and life-long resident of Wabash Valley and loves spending quality time with her husband and children.

Michael Switzer, Fitness Manager

Michael has 3+ years of documented experience in the fitness industry. He graduated from Indiana State University with a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science along with a minor in Strength and Conditioning. As the Fitness Center Manager, Michael ensures that everyone he interacts with on a daily basis enjoys to exercise and the services he offers. He treats everyone like gold and looks forward to work, day in and day out. In his free time, he LOVES to play League of Legends and has been top 1% in the world at this competitive game.

Deana Wilson, Marketing & Sales Director

I am thrilled to be serving Westminster Village as the Director of Marketing & Sales! I feel blessed to have spent my thirty-year career championing the interests of older adults and serving in various operational and marketing roles. Regardless of what positions I have held over the years, I recognize the impact of the work that I do on the lives of others…our residents, their family members and my co-workers. I want that impact to be positive and supportive of people living their best lives!

Deana holds a bachelor’s degree in health administration and throughout much of her career, she has been active with organizations that support and advocate for aging services such as Leading Age where she held various cabinet positions and most recently was selected as an Executive Board Member. In Deana’s personal time, she enjoys being with her adult children and their spouses and her sweet dog named Briggs. She loves spending weekends away in nature (preferably on a lake), flower gardening, reading, doing yoga, she has recently taken up bicycling and she is a dedicated Chicago White Sox fan.

Shannon Williams, Administrator

As the Administrator for Westminster Village, Shannon is charged with overseeing operations of the Life Plan community’s long-term skilled nursing care and short-term rehabilitation.  Williams began her career in long-term senior care as a certified nursing assistant 30 years ago and earned her health facility administrator license more than 10 years ago.  ”I have always had a love for the senior population. I was blessed to have great grandparents as well as grandparents invest in my life,” says Williams. “Many senior church men and women, whose love and life stories have always been a positive part of my life, I also consider a tremendous blessing.”  Since joining Westminster Village, Williams has been focused on filling any open positions with top candidates through a program aptly named the Westminster Difference.   According to Williams, “We’re working to make Westminster Village the provider of choice for anyone in need of a skilled nursing and rehab community. Our top priority is to ensure residents continue to receive excellent customer service and positive clinical outcomes.” “My job is to make Westminster Health and Rehab a great place to work, so it’s a great place for our residents to live. If our residents are happy and as healthy as possible, and enjoying a high quality of life, I am doing my job.”

Laura Jones, PTA, Therapy Program Manager

Laura started working at Westminster Village first of December 2018. She has been a Physical Therapy Assistant, PTA, for 15 years with all the years involved with geriatrics. She has also been a Manager for 11 years. Laura really enjoys the high energy that radiates from the population who live at Westminster. Making a positive impact in someone’s life is what she is most proud of while at Westminster. Laura graduated Vincennes University in 2002 and 2004 with 2 Associates in Science and outside of work I attend my two sons, Kale and Korbin,  year around ball games, traveling, and attending professional sporting events and concerts.

Jon McCloskey, Director of Plant & Environmental Operations

Jon retired from the Marine Corps Active Duty after 23 years of service. Jon has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Penn State University World Campus and a Master’s degree in organizational leadership from Brandman University. As the Director of Plant Operations, Jon makes sure residents are able to enjoy a beautiful community, completely maintenance-free. He responds to resident requests regarding their individual apartments and makes sure the campus is always clean and beautiful. Jon enjoys the outdoors and working on his land when not at work.
